Spradlin named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week

Harrisburg Senators left-handed relief pitcher Jack Spradlin is the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week. Spradlin pitched in three games for the Senators during the week ending June 28th. The 24-year old is the first Senators pitcher to receive the award this season. Spradlin pitched eight innings over three games and posted a record of 0-0 with one save. The Las Vegas native had 10 strikeouts and had a 0.00 ERA for the week. Spradlin was second among Eastern League pitchers in strikeouts for the week with 10, and tied for the league lead in ERA (0.00). The southpaw, Spradlin, pitched 3.2 shutout innings of relief during his first appearance of the week on Tuesday at New Britain Stadium. Spradlin had four strikeouts and gave up one hit in the Senators 5-4 loss. He pitched three shutout innings with four strikeouts in his second appearance of the week, earning a save as the Senators defeated Erie 3-2. In his final appearance of the week, Spradlin threw 1.1 shutout innings and struck out two leading the Senators to another win. The Washington Nationals selected Spradlin in the eighth round of the 2007 draft. He pitched for the University of Southern California before joining the Nationals. He went 6-3 with 97 strikeouts and a 4.47 ERA during his junior year with USC.
