
Sports win series finale 8-6

The Shreveport Sports used a four-run eighth inning to defeat the Diablos in the series finale 8-6.
Shreveport did some damage in the top of the third inning. Wade Robinson led off the inning with a double down the left field line. He moved around the horn on two ground outs, including an RBI from Deacon Burns for the 1-0 lead.
The Diablos tied it up in the bottom of the fourth. Evan Conley came through with his third RBI in two games with a sacrifice fly to score Walter Olmstead .
The Sports had a big top of the fifth. Austin Pride and Wade Robinson led off the frame with back-to-back singles. Deacon Burns plated both of them with a double yanked down the right field line.
El Paso had an explosive bottom of the sixth. Juan Camacho led off the inning with a solo-homer, his tenth of the year. Albenis Machado had a two-run single through the right side, as the Diablos took their first lead of the game 4-3.
The Sports tied it back up in the top of the seventh. Deacon Burns picked up his fourth RBI of the ball game with a single through the right side.
El Paso jumped right back on top in the bottom of the seventh. The Diablos scored two runs in the frame, Juan Camacho had a run-scoring double and Matt Kent had an RBI single.
Shreveport kept up with the see-saw battle as they had a four-run eighth. Shreveport started up the inning with five consecutive singles off of Dustin Cameron. The Sports had six singles in the frame and took an 8-6 lead which they would not relinquish.
Aaron Cunningham (2-0) picks up the victory as he threw two scoreless innings allowing just one base hit.
Dustin Cameron (3-2) gets the loss as he tossed two thirds of an inning allowing four runs off of six hits with no walks and no strikeouts.
Greg Wiltshire threw six and a third innings allowing four earned runs off of eight hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
Derek Cunningham tossed six full allowing three earned runs off of five hits with two walks and no strikeouts.
The Diablos will open up a three game set at Coastal Bend on Friday night at 6:05 PM (MST). The game will be broadcast live at www.diablos.com with Jon Barr on the call.
