A new chapter begins on Saturday, August 23, when Sporting Club Jacksonville takes the field for its long-awaited home debut at UNF's Hodges Stadium, presented by Ascension St. Vincent's.

This historic clash with D.C. Power FC marks more than Sporting JAX's inaugural match-it signals the official arrival of professional women's sports to Jacksonville. The First Coast will be front and center for a milestone moment as the community welcomes its first-ever professional women's soccer team.

Led by Head Coach Stacey Balaam, a respected coach and former pro, Sporting JAX has built a dynamic and ambitious squad ready to shine in the inaugural season of the Gainbridge USL Super League, the highest tier of women's soccer under the USL umbrella. Balaam brings a player-first mentality and a commitment to intelligent, attacking football.

"This is more than a match-it's a moment for Jacksonville," said Balaam. "Our players are ready to represent this city with pride and energy."

Wearing the captain's armband is Sophie Jones, a tenacious midfielder and former England youth international. Known for her grit, vision, and relentless work rate, Jones is eager to lead Sporting JAX into a new era:

"This is a dream come true," said Jones. "We've been building toward this night for months. We want to make the fans proud and set the tone for who we are as a club."

The Opponent: D.C. Power FC

Traveling from the nation's capital, D.C. Power FC arrive with confidence and pedigree. Under the guidance of veteran coach Omid Namazi, Power are known for their disciplined defense and fluid, attacking style.

Anchoring their back line is captain Claire Constant, a commanding defender whose leadership sets the standard for the squad. With a roster loaded with talent and a star-powered ownership group-including WNBA standout Angel Reese-D.C. Power are determined to make an early statement in the Super League.

Matchday Experience

Fans are encouraged to arrive early and be part of the festivities. The Fan Zone opens at 5:00 PM with music, activities, and giveaways leading up to the historic opening whistle.

Pre-Match

Club Anthem: Lift Every Voice, by Jacksonville's own Professor Jabrai Jones, a two-time Edward Waters University graduate.

National Anthem: Performed by Payten Tison, an accomplished young vocalist from North Florida.

Presentation of Colors: By the Terry Parker High School NJROTC Color Guard, led by Cadet Lieutenant Commander Htoo and team.

Halftime & Beyond

Honda of the Avenues Dino Dash: The world premiere of a one-of-a-kind race guaranteed to deliver laughs and cheers.

Fireworks Spectacular: A seven-minute show presented by Ascension St. Vincent's and PRI Productions, lighting up the Jacksonville sky in celebration of this historic debut.

70th Minute Tradition: Fans vote for the Sporting JAX Player of the Match.
