Kokomo, IN - The Traverse City Pit Spitters bounced back with a 7-3 victory over the Kokomo Jackrabbits on Thursday.
Dallas Duarte grounded home the opening run in the second, followed by an RBI single from Alec Atkinson. Two innings later, Atkinson would double home another run to put the Pit Spitters up 3-0.
Kokomo would score two in the fourth and one in the sixth to tie the game. Derek Clark would finish six innings of strong pitching, striking out six batters in the win.
Trey Truitt III struck for his second home run of the season in the eighth, a two-run shot to right field. Another run came across on a throwing error to make it 6-3. Duarte would add a sacrifice fly in the ninth to put the game out of reach.
Ryan Insco picked up the win on the mound with two scoreless innings of relief. Anthony Ramirez pitched a scoreless ninth to seal the win.

Aren Gustafson (2-1, 2.25) will take the mound Friday at 6:35 for game two at Kokomo.
