La Crosse Loggers News Release
The Loggers were defeated by a slim margin last night versus the MoonDogs. The Lumberman held a 3-run lead heading into the bottom of the 7th, however, an abundance of walks and a throwing error proved costly down the stretch.
Making his fourth start for the Loggers was right-handed hurler, Drew Christo (Nebraska). He pitched a quality outing, tossing 6.0 innings while allowing 2 runs on 7 hits and 2 strikeouts.
Ricky Reeth (Notre Dame) appeared in relief, entering the contest with an ERA of 0.00 through 13.1 innings of work. That statistic rose yesterday, after Reeth ran into trouble in the 8th frame, forcing Trey Frahm (Nebraska) to enter the contest with the bases loaded.
Following a fly out to right field, far enough to force a throw home, the Logger's attempted to pick off a runner at second base. From home, the ball sailed into center field, scoring 3 MoonDogs and forfeiting the lead.
Offensively for Mankato, Justin DeCriscio (San Diego) and Dustin Crenshaw (Grand Canyon) led the way, each going 2-3. Orlando Salinas (Kansas State) also had a productive night, going 1-2 with 2 runs scored.
Corey Sanchez (San Jose State) made his first start for the MoonDogs. The 5'9 righty was on cruise control until the 6th inning, in which Blaise Priester (Meridian CC) blasted a 2-run homer to close the book on Sanchez. Through 5.2 innings, he surrendered 5 runs on 6 hits and 4 strikeouts. The winning pitcher was Simon Gregersen (Des Moines Area CC), and Tyson Neighbors (Kansas State) recorded his 5th save.
In addition to Priester's 3rd long ball of the season, the Loggers' infield tandem had solid nights on offense. Aidan Sweatt (North Florida) posted his first 3-hit outing of the summer and Jordan Donahue (Hawaii) went 2-4.
The Lumberman will look to bounce back tonight as they take on the MoonDogs again at ISG field. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm CT in Mankato, MN.
