Kristoff Kontos led the way with a goal and two assists, as the Spirit topped the Spitfires 6-2 before an announced crowd of 2,711 at the Dow Event Center on Wednesday night.

Nikita Yazkov (3) and Ryan Verbeek (2) had the goals for Windsor (15-10-0-0), which lost its third consecutive game.

"Not enough passion. Not enough effort," said assistant coach Jerrod Smith after the game. "Our best players need to be our best players. Our leaders. And right now that's just not happening."

Justin Sefton, Jimmy Lodge and Mitchell Stephens each had a goal and an assist for Saginaw (15-8-2-1), which moved three points up on the Spits in the West Division.

Nikita Serebryakov made 43 saves in goal for the win, while Alex Fotinos made 28 in a losing cause.

The Spitfires are now off until Saturday night, when they begin a home-and-home series with the Sarnia Sting at the WFCU Centre. Gametime is 7:05.
