Windsor Spitfires News Release

The great Martin Luther King Jr brought a message of peace and tolerance to the world. On the day his life and legacy are honoured stateside, the Spitfires and Whalers displayed anything but.

In a game that featured 14 fighting majors and 132 minutes in penalties, a balanced Plymouth attack was too much for the Spits, who dropped a 5-1 decision at the Compuware Arena.

Stefan Noesen, Tom Wilson and Austin Levi all had multi-point games and Scott Wedgewood stopped all but one of Windsor's 27 shots, as the Whalers (30-10-2-1) moved within two points of London for the OHL's top spot.

Jaroslav Pavelka was outstanding in goal for Windsor (19-21-3-1), making 49 saves in the loss.Nick Ebert accounted for the only Spitfires goal, scoring his third of the season.

The Spits trailed after 1-0 after 20 minutes, before Jamie Devane and Noesen added goals to expand the lead to 3-0 after 40 minutes.

Levi made it 4-0 on the first shift of the third period.

The game had a physical tone and, at times, a nasty edge to it.Ty Bilcke fought three times for Windsor; the third tilt earned him a game misconduct.

He faces up to a two-game suspension under league rules.
