Spits Add Lewis from North Bay

(Windsor, ON) - General Manager Warren Rychel is pleased to announce the club has acquired overage centre Jamie Lewis from the North Bay Battalion.
In exchange, the Spitfires have sent their 4th Round Pick in 2017, 7th Round Pick in 2016 and 12th Round Pick in 2019 the other way.
Lewis, 20, is a 5'10, 204-pound native of Richmond Hill, Ontario that spent three full seasons with the Brampton / North Bay Battalion.
In 195 career games, the right-shooting centreman posted 25 goals and 47 assists along with 106 penalty minutes and a +14 rating.
ADDS VETERAN PRESENCE & LEADERSHIP
Rychel says Lewis will add much-needed experience and grit to the club's forward group.
"With news of Brady Vail signing his AHL deal, we really needed some stability down the middle of the ice," Rychel said. "Jamie is a hard-nosed, two-way player that can contribute in all aspects of the game. He was outstanding in North Bay's 2014 OHL Playoffs run. He's exactly the type of older, experienced player we need, and he's been very well-coached throughout his junior career."
HAPPY TO LAND IN WINDSOR
Reached in North Bay, Lewis says he's excited about the deal.
"I had a feeling that I was going to be traded," Lewis said. "I didn't know I was going to Windsor. But when I was told, I had the biggest smile on my face."
Looked to for leadership during his time in North Bay, Lewis says it's a role he is comfortable with.
"Of course," he said. "I've been a leader during my time here. The Spitfires have so much young talent right now. I look forward to getting there and to working with some of these kids. Taking some pressure off them and putting it on myself."
Lewis says he's the type of player that can make the Spits better in all three zones.
"I'm a two-way centreman that is going to be make whoever i am playing with better," Lewis noted.
"I can take care of my own zone and I also expect more out of myself offensively this year."
"I think I'm a great fit in Windsor right now."
Expected to arrive in Windsor on Wednesday, Lewis is eligible to return to the ice October 23rd, when the Spitfires host the Plymouth Whalers at the WFCU Centre.
