Windsor Spitfires News Release
(Windsor, ON) - The Spitfires are looking for their 7th man. Literally.
Following the club's 8-3 win over the London Knights Saturday, four seemingly overjoyed fans were observed fleeing the WFCU Centre concourse, and eventually the building, with the club's new concourse attraction - a novelty, graphic cut-out recently created to allow fans to take a keepsake photo while enjoying a game.
Longtime game night staffer "Shot Clock" Marty Kerester says he saw the men absconding with the 7th man, but his attempt at intervention was unsuccessful.
"I was walking out of the arena and saw these four guys with it!," Kerester said. "And I said to them 'you know there's cameras out here, don't you?'." "A short time later, I went to get my car, with the intention of grabbing him, and by the time I got back, they were gone," he continued. "Unbelievable!" The 7th Man is described as approximately five-feet tall and, most noticeably,
headless, with a slightly hunched posture and a Spitfires jersey with the #7 on it. Spitfires Coordinator of Fan Development Nathan Sellon says the club is taking measures to ensure the 7th Man's return.
"We're offering a reward to anyone who provides information on his whereabouts that leads to his recovery," Sellon said, adding any tips can be posted on the team's official facebook page, via Twitter @SpitsHockey and in the feedback section of WindsorSpitfires.com.
"We're concerned for his safety and we just want him back. No questions asked."
