WINDSOR, ON.
The Spitfires and Matt Maggio took care of business on Thursday night getting out to a big lead and coasting to a 6-3 win.
In the first period, the Spitfires came out flying compared from a week ago in Erie. The lit the lamp 4 times in the first period with 3 from Captain Maggio and one from Christopoulos. Both Maggio and Christopoulos recorded their 21st goal of the campaign in the period. The Spitfires would go up 3-0 and chase Lalonde before Erie would strike back. Erie would had 2 goals in the frame from Terrance and Artichuk. The Spitfires led on the scoreboard 402 after twenty minutes while the shots were tied 7-7.
In the second period, the Maggio show continued as he potted two more goals for his 22nd and 23rd and 4th and 5th of the evening. He tied former Spitfires Daniel D'Amico, Paul Gagne, and Gerry Leroux as the only Spitfires to score 5 times in a game. It was Maggio's 150th career OHL point as well. After the frame the Spitfires led 6-2.
In the third period, the Otters would add another, however the Spitfires would coast for the 6-3 win.
The Spitfires are back in action on Saturday December 17th vs the Owen Sound Attack at the Bayshore. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30pm.
