Windsor Spitfires News Release
The Spitfires looked down and out after going down 3-0 but a mighty third period made the game a whole lot more interesting. Plus, they were able to get a key point in the standings.
In the first period, the Spitfires were a little rusty and the Knights came out flying. They scored just over 4 minutes in to take an early lead. Eight minutes later London doubled their lead 2-0. The Spitfires had a few chances but couldn't capitalize. London led in shots 13-7 after the first period.

It must be noted the Spitfires could have had penalty more powerplays but there were many non-calls. Cuylle's stick slashed in half with no call, and Johnston cross-checked into the boards from behind, no call were blatant ones.
The third period was electric. The Spitfires roared back to tie the game and make it interesting. Ryan Abraham scored his 8th on the season from Perrott and D'Amico on the powerplahy to pull the Spitfires within 2. Just 37 seconds later, Josh Currie slid the puck 5-hole on Brochu to make it a 1 goal game with just under 14 minutes to play in the third period. A minute and 43 seconds later, the game was tied by Oliver Peer who dangled Brochu and roofed it on the backhand. Three minutes later London scored to restore the lead at 4-3. However the Spitfires kept on the pressure, Maillet off a turnover scored to tie the game at 4 and silence the crowd at the Bud. Through 60 we were knotted up at 4 and off to OT.
In overtime, the London captain was stopped on a breakaway by Onuska. At the other end, Cuylle had a chance but that was stopped by Brochu. Late in OT, London had appeared to score but it was immediately waved off for goalie interference. Just a minute after that London scored to take the win in a thrilling game.
The Spitfires gained a massive point after being down 3-0 and will be back in action tomorrow as the Soo greyhounds come to town and a rematch on Sunday afternoon vs the Knights.
