Spirit\'s Bryan Morse Named Northeast League Pitcher of the Week

Lynn, MA –North Shore Spirit's Bryan Morse was selected by SportsTicker as the Northeast Pitcher of the Week on Monday for the period of August 23-29. Morse was chosen for the first time this season and is the seventh Spirit player to win the award.

Morse went 1-0 with a 0.53 earned run average in two starts. In 17 innings, he allowed one run, walked three and struck out 11 for the Spirit, who won the first half North Division Title.

Against Quebec on August 29, Morse tossed a complete game, his league-leading sixth, six-hit shut out of Quebec to improve to 10-4 on the season. He ranks second in the NEL in ERA (2.56) and wins.

Originally selected by the Florida Marlins in the 24th round of the 1999 MLB Draft, Morse pitched three seasons of Class A baseball before signing with Albany-Colonie in 2002. This is his second season with the North Shore Spirit.
