North Shore Spirit News Release

Trailing by two runs with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Spirit rallied for a 5-4 come-from-behind victory for their second straight win over the Rox. Vic Davilla picked up the game-wining hit on a line drive down the right-field line to cap the Spirit rally and deliver the win to a crown of 3,075 at Fraser Field.

Brockton appeared to have this game in hand heading into the ninth inning, but a Spirit offense that had struggled for most of the contest came to life and delivered the clutch hits when they needed to.

Andrew Wishy kickstarted the Spirit comeback with a walk to open the ninth inning. After a fly out from Jeff Brooks, Andy Howdeshell came to the plate as a pinch hitter and drew a walk. Jon deVries followed with a base hit to load the bases for Ryan Bethel and the Spirit second baseman came through in the clutch with a two-run single to tie the game. After Garrett Weir reached on an error and B.J. Weed flied out to left field, Davilla laced the line drive shot down the line to lead the Spirit to victory.

In his first game of the season at Fraser Field, Ryan Bicondoa's CanAm-record streak of not allowing an earned run came to a conclusion after 34.1 innings. Bicondoa earned the no-decision, allowing two earned runs on eight hits in 7.1 innings of work. Eric Drown picked up the victory for the Spirit in relief. Brockton reliever Jon Koch allowed three runs in the final inning to suffer the loss.

With the win, the Spirit improved to 14-8 on the season while the Rox moved to 10-15.

North Shore and Brockton will be back in action tomorrow night. Joey Siak will get the start for the Spirit, while Rolando Viera takes the mound for the Rox. The game will be broadcast live in Lynn and Swampscott on Channels 3 and 16 courtesy of LynnCam TV.
