(Saginaw, MI) The Spirit are pleased to announced the selection of center Daniel Pachis 16th overall in the 2007 OHL Priority Selection. The Whitby, Ontario native played with the Whitby Wildcats Ontario Minor Midget Hockey Team.

Previous Spirit first round selections include Nick Crawford (2006), Zack Torquato (2005), Matt Corrente (2004), Patrick McNeill (2003) and Jean-Michel Rizk (2002). Joining Crawford in the 2006 Selection were third rounder T.J. Brodie and fourth rounder Andrew Clouthier.

North American players born between January 1, 1988 and December 31, 1991 are eligible for selection. OHL teams are permitted to register a maximum of four 16 year old players selected in the Selection; those 16 year old players that are allowed to dress and play are the first two 16 year old players selected and a maximum of addition of two 16 year old "wild card" players. All other 16 year old players selected are eligible to be called up as an "affiliate player" or "floating affiliate player" for a maximum of 10 games, unless the member team is eliminated from competition for that season.
