
Spirit Post Second Straight Win in 4-3 Victory over Attack

(Owen Sound, Ontario) The Saginaw Spirit bested the Owen Sound Attack 4-3 in regulation Saturday night, courtesy goal scoring from Tyler Murovich, Barry Sanderson, Daniel Pachis and Chris Chappell. The Spirit retain third place in the OHL Western Conference with 77 points and a record of 34-23-3-4, two points ahead of the fourth place Plymouth Whalers. The Whalers (75 points) posted a victory as well Saturday night, beating the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
Saginaw's 77 points also marks the second highest points total established by the Spirit during a regular season. The Spirit posted 76 points during the 2007-2008 season and a team high 91 points in the 2006-2007 season.
The Spirit fired off two consecutive goals early in the contest, the first a power play tally from center Tyler Murovich at the 1:45 mark taking the score to 1-0. Defensemen Adam Comrie (NHL FLORIDA PANTHERS) and Joe Underwood assisted on the goal. Center Barry Sanderson extended Saginaw's lead to 2-0 with a goal 14:20 into the first, courtesy an assist from defenseman Nick Crawford (NHL BUFFALO SABRES). The Attack quickly rebounded, answering the Spirit with two goals to tie up the first stanza 2-2. Center Steven Shipley and winger Grant McGee notched the goals for Owen Sound, with Shipley also posting an assist.
The Spirit and Attack traded goals in the opening half of the second before Saginaw regained the lead. Center Daniel Pachis posted a goal at the 3:03 mark courtesy an assist from Comrie, but Attack center Joey Hishon evened things up moments later with a goal at 6:43 in the second. Winger Chris Chappell scored the game winning goal at the 14:04 mark of the second, with center Jack Combs assisting on the marker. The Spirit took home the 4-3 win following a scoreless third period.
Saginaw goalie Edward Pasquale posted 37 saves on 40 shots, with Owen Sound's Scott Stajcer earning 31 saves on 35 shots. Applebee's Neighborhood Bar and Grill Three Stars of the Game*:
