North Shore Spirit News Release
Lynn, MAâ The North Shore Spirit's bats came alive Monday night as they extended their winning streak to three games with a 16-5 win over the Aces at the New Fraser Field.
Jeremy Sugarman (10-0) picked up the win for North Sore, allowing three earned runs over 6 2/3 innings. Tim Hart worked the final 2 1/3 to pick up his first save of the season.
The Spirit jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. With runners on the corners and one out, Rob Fischer singled to center plating Nelson Teilon with the games first run. Two batters later, Frank Charles would add to the lead with an RBI double to the gap in right-center. Mike Granger and Brian Macchi would follow with run-scoring hits of their own, putting the Spirit on top 5-0.
North Shore tacked on three additional runs in the fourth thanks to homeruns from Yuri Sanchez and Teilon. The Aces would cut the deficit to 8-5 with three runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh. That's as close as the Aces would get however.
The Spirit pushed across a pair of runs in the eighth, thanks to a Lucas Taylor RBI single and a Teilon RBI groundout. In the top of the ninth, North Shore sent eleven men to the plate, pounded out eight hits and scored six times.
Brian Macchi was 4-5 with three runs scored. Lucas Taylor, Vic Davilla and Nelson Teilon all had three hits.
LHP Bryan Morse (6-2) will take the mound for the Spirit on Tuesday and will face LHP Max Newill (3-1) from the Aces. Tuesday's game begins at 7:05 pm, gates open at 5:30 pm.
