Spirit Complete Sweep of Aces
July 18, 2004 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
North Shore Spirit News Release
Lynn, MA â The North Shore Spirit completed a three-game series sweep of the Aces Sunday afternoon with a 4-1 win in front of a record crowd of 4,526 at the New Fraser Field.
Spirit starter Bryan Morse (6-2) was brilliant on the hill. Morse went the distance, allowing only five hits while striking out six.
North Shore opened the scoring in the bottom of the first. After Nelson Teilon was hit by a pitch and Vic Davilla walked, Rob Fischer lifted a sac fly to rightfield, giving the Spirit an early 1-0 lead. In the third, Marcos Agramonte hit his second homerun in as many days deep over the fence in right.
North Shore would tack on two more runs in the fifth thanks to some shaky Ace's defense. With two outs Davilla hit a groundball to third, but Greg Schmidt's errant throw to first allowed Davilla to reach. Rob Fischer promptly sent the next pitch over the centerfield wall for his 6th homerun of the season.
The Spirit now lead the season series with the Aces 9-2.
Four Spirit players will travel to Ft. Worth, Texas for the Northeast League vs. Central League All-Star game. Following the all-star break, the Spirit begin a ten game homestand on Monday, July 26.
You can catch all Spirit games, home and away, on the flagship station of the North Shore Spirit, WESX 1230 AM. All games are also broadcast via the Internet on www.northshorespirit.com.
