BROCKTON â The Rox head into the All-Star break after losing the rubber game of their three-game series with the New Jersey Jackals Sunday at Campanelli Stadium, 4-1, in front of 3,558.
The Rox got their lone run in the first inning as Nestor Smith scored on a Brian Jones single to right.
The Jackals came back with three runs in the second inning, and completed the game's scoring with a run in the third.
Rox starter Derek Andersen (4-5) was tagged with the loss, pitching eight innings, allowing six hits, a walk, and four runs (one earned). Tony Stutz pitched an inning of relief, striking out one and allowing two hits.
The Rox (1-2, 28-21) are off for the All-Star break until Thursday, when they host the Bangor Lumberjacks at Campanelli at 7:11 p.m.

Manager Ed Nottle will bring six Rox players with him to Forth Worth, Texas, for Tuesday's All-Star Game. Joining Nottle on the NEL team are shortstop Saul Bustos, third baseman Jake Daubert, catcher Brian Jones, and pitchers Brian Buchanan, Tony Runion, and Tony Stutz. The Rox have more players on the NEL All-Star squad than any other team. The NEL team will play the Central League All-Stars at LaGrave Field, home of the Fort Worth Cats.

Former big-league star Mo Vaughn was in attendance to launch a new partnership between the Rox and Vaughn's Hitdog Training and Fitness Center, and for the ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Mo Zone in the Kids' Zone at Campanelli Stadium. The Mo Zone includes two Hitaway Baseball batting aids for fans to test their hitting skills.

The Brockton Rox, 2003 champions of the independent Northeast League, have three additional dates and four additional games on their schedule at Campanelli Stadium.
