Spirit Challenge Attack, Fall 3-1

The Saginaw Spirit battled to tie the Owen Sound Attack early in the game, but fell 3-2 Saturday in Saginaw. The one-goal game marks the 24th time the Spirit have had a decision by one goal, with 5 wins, 16 losses and 3 OT losses.

The Attack opened scoring in the first period, but the Spirit responded with a goal from forward Justin McCutcheon. The Attack scored the next two before Saginaw returned fire, with a power play goal from forward Jean-Michel Rizk. Rizk's second period goal wrapped up scoring for Saginaw. The team played the final :53 seconds with an extra attacker but could not get the game-tying goal.

Spirit goalie Mike Brown turned back 29 shots in the game. The loss takes the Spirit record to 12-34-2-3 on the season. Saginaw returns to ice Friday against the Mississauga Ice Dogs in the first game of a three game road trip.
