State College Spikes News Release

STATE COLLEGE, PA - State College Spikes fans will have plenty of family fun to enjoy during a jam-packed six-game homestand starting Wednesday, July 17. The promotional slate is headlined by a Myrtle Beach, SC vacation giveaway for two lucky fans, the start of the Local Legends Bobble Head Series, and back-to-back FIREWORKS nights at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

The Lowell Spinners (Boston Red Sox) and Connecticut Tigers (Detroit Tigers) will provide the opposition for three games apiece in the homestand, which runs through Monday, July 22.

It all begins on Wednesday, when the Spikes host the future Red Sox at 7:05 p.m. for Bellefonte Community Night at the park, presented by Northwest Savings Bank and 95.3 FM 3WZ. The first 1,000 fans of all ages on the 17th will also receive a bobble head of one of Bellefonte's favorite sons, Eric Milton, to kick off the Local Legends Bobble Head Series. Plus, it will be a Half-Price Wednesday, presented by BIG Froggy 101.

Thursday offers a great night to bring the kids out for the Spikes' 7:05 p.m. game against Lowell, as the first 1,000 kids age 12 and under receive a Spikes Youth Jersey, presented by Boyles Insurance, as part of the Mini-Majors Head-to-Toe Giveaway Series. In addition, every kid 12 and under gets a free hot dog, chips and small soda along with a one-time free play pass to Ike's Kids Zone on Kids Eat N' Play Free Thursday, presented by DQ Grill & Chill. Plus, St. Louis Cardinals mascot Fredbird the Redbird will be on hand for the first-ever Perch in the Park as the Spikes welcome birds of all feathers.

The series against the Spinners concludes on Friday with a 7:05 p.m. contest that features a Mystery Gift Card Giveaway, presented by WJAC, on a 4 for $44 Friday, presented by T.G.I. Friday's and MAJIC 99. Saturday is the first night of back-to-back FIREWORKS shows when Penn State Sports Medicine and ESPN Radio 1450 present a spectacular post-game display that will light up the night after the Spikes face Connecticut at 7:05 p.m.

Then on Sunday at the Spikes' 6:05 p.m. game against Connecticut, fans can sign up for the chance to win a four-day, three-night vacation to beautiful Myrtle Beach, SC thanks to the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and ESPN Radio 1450. One lucky fan will be drawn after the game to receive the getaway, and fans must be 18 or older to qualify. VisitMyrtleBeach.com will then present another fantastic FIREWORKS show after the game.

The homestand concludes on Monday with the annual Super Splash Day game at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park as Ike's Kids Zone turns into the Splash Zone for kids of all ages. First pitch between the Spikes and Connecticut will be at noon, and the savings of Buck Night, presented by 95.3 FM 3WZ, will transfer to the daytime.
