
Spikes Pitching Quiets Cutters

Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters were held to a season-low four hits in their 12-2 loss to the State College Spikes.
Rob Marinec and Freddie Matos provided the only highlights for the Williamsport offense. Marinec doubled home a run in the bottom of the 5th inning, his first double and RBI of the season. Matos plated a run in the bottom of the 9th, with a single, his 6th RBI.
Nick Cosentino was roughed up, allowing five runs, all earned, on four hits and two walks. The right-hander struck out three batters over two innings, suffering his 2nd loss of the season.
Francisco Mateo was a bright spot for the Cutters pitching staff, striking out the side in the 7th inning, his only inning of relief.
Crosscutters pitchers struck out 13 batters, extending their streak to 10-straight home games with double digit strikeouts. They have struck out 10 or more in 16 of their 22 games.
The Cutters still hold the lead in the 2021 SawBuck series, with a 5-4 record against the Spikes. Williamsport falls to 6-5 at Muncy Bank Ballpark with the loss.
