
Spikes, Doubledays Postponed on Saturday Night

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Saturday night's scheduled game between the State College Spikes and Auburn Doubledays has been postponed due to rain in the State College area. The two teams will make up the game as part of a doubleheader consisting of two seven-inning games on Thursday, August 2 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, starting at 4:05 p.m.
Tickets for Saturday night's game can be redeemed for a ticket of equal or lesser value to any remaining regular season Spikes home game in the 2018 season, based on availability. Fans can redeem tickets by visiting the Spikes Ticket Office or by calling (814) 272-1711 for more information on ticket redemption.
In addition, Saturday night's scheduled FIREWORKS show and Myrtle Beach Trip Giveaway presented by VisitMyrtleBeach.com have each been postponed, with a make-up date to be announced.
The Spikes will now complete a two-game series against the Doubledays with a 6:05 p.m. matchup on Sunday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in nine-inning action. Left-hander Jake Dahlberg (0-2), who was originally scheduled to start on Saturday, will get the ball for State College in the finale.
Auburn's starter has not yet been announced. Left-hander Jackson Stoeckinger (0-1) had been slated to take the hill for the Doubledays on Saturday.
Sunday will be one of the biggest nights of the year as the Spikes and Mount Nittany Health will team up once gain to raise funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer at the annual Paint the Park Pink Night.
The Spikes will take the field in special Pink Sunrise Jerseys, which will then go up for bids in a Jersey-off-the-Back Auction to benefit the Mount Nittany Health Foundation, which supports the work done by the Breast Care Center at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
In addition, the first 1,000 fans through the gates when they open at 5 p.m. will receive a Pink Sunrise Shirtsey, serving as a replica of sorts of what the Spikes will wear on the field. Plus, the skies will light up with a Spike-tacular FIREWORKS show after the game.
It's also Sunday Kids Day at the ballpark, presented by First National Bank, with a pre-game catch on the field from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. and the chance for kids to run the bases after the game. In addition, the first 250 kids 12 and under eat and play for free thanks to Dairy Queen Grill & Chill, with a coupon for a free hot dog, chips and small soda.
Youngsters will also enjoy a FREE Kids Zone, presented by Friends of Jake Corman, on Philipsburg-Osceola Night, part of the Community Nights series presented by CATA.
The game will be broadcast live by WHVL-TV, with Steve Jones and Joe Vasile on the call.
Tickets for Sunday's game, as well as the 2018 New York-Penn League All-Star Game presented by the Central PA Convention & Visitors Bureau, the 2018 NYPL All-Star Tailgate Gala presented by Reinhart Foodservice, and every game on the 2018 Spikes home schedule, are currently on sale through the Spikes Ticket Office.
Tickets can be purchased by calling (814) 272-1711 or by visiting the Ticket Office in person from 10 a.m. to the end of the game on Sunday and from 9 a.m. to the end of the game on Monday. Fans can also buy and download single-game tickets by visiting StateCollegeSpikes.com.
