San Antonio Rampage News Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that San Antonio Rampage goaltender Spencer Martin has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 27, 2016.

Martin stopped 91 of 94 shots while winning all three of his starts for the Rampage last week, good for a 0.99 goals-against average and a .968 save percentage.

After snapping Grand Rapids' 13-game winning streak with a shutout two days earlier, Martin began the new week with a 30-save performance against the Griffins on Tuesday night, backstopping the Rampage to a 2-1 victory. On Saturday evening, Martin made 37 saves for another shutout, a 3-0 San Antonio win over Bakersfield. And on Sunday, Martin's 24-save effort helped the Rampage to a 3-2 overtime victory against Texas.

Martin, a third-round selection by Colorado in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, has made 18 appearances for San Antonio this season, going 7-7-1 with a 2.65 goals-against average, a .921 save percentage and three shutouts. The 20-year-old rookie from Oakville, Ont., played four seasons for Mississauga in the Ontario Hockey League before turning pro and won a gold medal with Canada at the IIHF World U-18 Championships in 2013.

In recognition of his achievement, Martin will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Rampage home game.

The Rampage leave the state of Texas for the final time this season, taking on the Rockford IceHogs on Friday at 7 p.m. Season tickets for the 2016-17 campaign are on sale now. For more information, call a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or visit sarampage.com.
