Chicago Wolves News Release
ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Wolves gave up two power-play goals as the Manitoba Moose edged the club 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Allstate Arena.
In his second game as a forward, Scooter Vaughan nabbed his first point of the season with a second-period goal. Goaltender Jordan Binnington (5-5-1) turned aside 26 shots as the Wolves' four-game home winning streak came to a close.
"The effort was there," said Wolves head coach Craig Berube. "But for me, it was the execution. It just wasn't there. We had the puck a lot, particularly in the first period, and just didn't get a whole lot done with it."
Manitoba (9-7-1-1) opened scoring just 3:07 into the first frame when Rolling Meadows native Dan DeSalvo netted his fifth marker of the season.
The Wolves (8-9-1-1) managed to outshoot the Moose, 12-10, through the first period but could not get one past their former Calder Cup-winning netminder Ondrej Pavelec (4-2-1).
Late in the session, J.C. Lipon escaped the Wolves defensemen for a breakaway chance, but Binnington stood tall to keep the score just a one-goal lead in favor of Manitoba.
The Wolves knotted the game, 1-1, at 16:44 of the middle stanza when Vaughan rushed up the right-wing boards and lasered a shot past Pavelec off the far-side post and in.
However, in the final minute of play in the frame, Jack Roslovic tallied the go-ahead marker to put the Moose up 2-1 heading into the third period and the marker stood as the game-winner.
The Wolves are back in action on Wednesday (Nov. 30) at Allstate Arena to face the Pacific Division's Texas Stars for the first time this season. For a complete 2016-17 game schedule or ticket information, visit ChicagoWolves.com.
