Sparks Announce 2015 Schedule

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Sparks will open the 2015 WNBA season on Saturday, June 6 in Seattle before returning to Los Angeles to host the Storm at STAPLES Center to tip-off the team's 19th home season on Sunday, June 14 at 2:00 p.m.

The Sparks 17-game home schedule features seven weekend games with six Sunday matinee contests including the only regular season visit from Chiney Ogwumike and the Connecticut Sun on Sunday, June 21 at 2:00 p.m.

In July, the Sparks will host two back-to-back home contests at STAPLES with the first set tipping-off the month on Thursday, July 2 vs. San Antonio and another game the following night, Friday, July 3 vs. Tulsa. The second back-to-back set of games will wrap up the home schedule for the month of July with an ESPN televised game on Tuesday, July 21 vs. the defending WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury followed by a 7:30 p.m. game vs. the New York Liberty on Wednesday, July 22. The month also includes the only 2015 regular season visit by Shoni Schimmel and the Atlanta Dream on Thursday, July 16.

In August, the Minnesota Lynx and the Sparks will meet at STAPLES for the final regular season matchup between the two teams on Tuesday, August 4 at 7:00 p.m. The game will air on ESPN2. The month is also highlighted by visits from Elena Delle Donne and the Chicago Sky on Sunday, August 16 and the San Antonio Stars on Sunday, August 30 at 2:00 p.m. August is also the busiest month for travel, as Los Angeles tips-off a 4-game, 9-day road trip to Phoenix (Aug. 21), San Antonio (Aug. 23), Indiana (Aug. 26) and Tulsa (Aug. 28).

With only four regular season games in September, the Sparks will host Washington (Sept. 3) and Tulsa (Sept. 6) at home before wrapping up the regular season schedule on the road at Atlanta (Sept. 9) and Phoenix (Sept. 11).

Sparks home weekday and Friday games tip-off at 7:30 p.m. excluding the two ESPN games vs. Phoenix (Jul. 5) and Minnesota (Aug. 4) at 7:00 p.m. All Sunday matinee games tip-off at 2:00 p.m.

In addition to the Sparks two nationally televised home games on ESPN2, the team will play one ESPN2 game on the road on June 23 at Washington. The 2015 Sparks promotional calendar and broadcast schedule on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes will be released at a later date.

One of only three original franchises from the WNBA's inaugural season in 1997, the Los Angeles Sparks will tip-off its 19th WNBA season in the summer of 2015. Two-time WNBA Champions, the Sparks won back-to-back WNBA titles in 2001 and 2002 and have qualified for the postseason a WNBA record fourteen of eighteen seasons.
