2015 Schedule Announced; Fever Seeks 11th Consecutive Playoff Appearance
December 11, 2014 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
Indiana Fever News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Fever will open its 16th WNBA season with back-to-back games against a pair of conference finalists from the 2014 playoffs. Indiana opens at Chicago on Friday, June 5 (8:30 p.m. ET) before hosting a home opener on Saturday, June 6 (7:00 p.m.) against the Minnesota Lynx.
The season-opening game at Chicago is a repeat of Fever vs. Sky playoff series the past two years. The home-opening game features a rematch with the Lynx who won WNBA crowns in 2011 and 2013, and fell to champion Indiana in 2012.
The Fever's 34-game regular season schedule begins the first week of June and ends in mid-September. WNBA Playoffs will conclude in early October. Season-ticket packages are currently available at FeverBasketball.com. Mini (5 games), half (9 games) and MVP membership packages are available. A special holiday package with discounted pricing includes lower level seating for nine games plus a Tamika Catchings jersey, through Jan. 3.
Returning from a WNBA record-tying 10th straight playoff appearance in 2014, with 11 trips in 15 seasons, Indiana begins its first campaign under the direction of Head Coach Stephanie White, who took over duties from longtime mentor Lin Dunn. An assistant to Dunn the past four seasons, White also spent four years as an assistant with the Chicago Sky. A former Indiana prep legend who won national player of the year honors in both high school and college, White led Purdue to an NCAA championship in 1999. She played five WNBA seasons between 1999-04, capping her career with four seasons in Indiana following a draft-day trade in December 1999 to lead her hometown team into its first year of existence.
With White at the helm, the Fever's schedule includes 22 games against the Eastern Conference and 12 against the West. The Fever plays four games apiece against Eastern foes Atlanta, Chicago and Connecticut; and squares off against New York and Washington five times. Home and away games are scheduled against each of six Western Conference opponents.
Indiana closes the regular season with four of five September games against Eastern rivals, hoping to secure sole possession of the WNBA record for consecutive playoff seasons. Schedule highlights include:
- Two Fever games will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Elena Delle Donne visits Bankers Life Fieldhouse when the Fever and Sky battle in a Sunday afternoon contest on June 14 (1:00 p.m.). Indiana faces Diana Taurasi and the defending WNBA champion Mercury in Phoenix on Sunday, Aug. 16 (7:00 p.m. ET).
- The longest homestand of the season features four games to begin the month of July. Included in that stretch is the club's annual Kids Day when Indiana hosts Seattle on Wednesday, July 8 (Noon). The afternoon contest has annually drawn one of the Fever's largest crowds of the season.
- The schedule features three visits by the New York Liberty and All-Star Cappie Pondexter. Following a pair of road contests at Madison Square Garden in June, the Liberty visit Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Wednesday, July 29 (7:00 p.m.) Sunday, Aug. 23 (6:00 p.m.) and the regular season finale on Sunday, Sept. 13 (5:00 p.m.).
- Defending champion Phoenix visits Indianapolis on Friday, June 12 (7:00 p.m.).
