Space Cowboys' Winning Streak Snapped at 7 Games

(EL PASO, Texas) - The Sugar Land Space Cowboys had their seven-game winning streak end with a 6-4 loss to the El Paso Chihuahuas on Friday night.

The seven-game streak matched the longest of this season for the Space Cowboys and entered as the longest active winning streak in Minor League Baseball.

HIGHLIGHTS: 8.12 at ELP

El Paso jumped out to a 6-0 lead, scoring six runs in the second.

The Space Cowboys carved into the deficit with a three-run fourth. JJ Matijevic, Marty Costes and Niko Goodrum each provided RBI singles. It was Goodrum's first appearance with the Space Cowboys since being placed on the 7-Day Injured List on June 4.

Justin Dirden delivered the Space Cowboys' final run of the night with an RBI double in the ninth. Dirden has collected three doubles and three RBI through his first three career games at the Triple A level.

Brandon Bielak tossed five scoreless innings of relief, lowering his ERA to 2.85 with the Space Cowboys this season.

Jose Azocar hit a solo home run as part of El Paso's six-run second. Taylor Kohlwey added a two-run double in the frame as well.

The Space Cowboys and Chihuahuas continue their six-game series at 7:35 p.m. on Saturday night at Southwest University Park. JP France is scheduled to start for the Space Cowboys with lefty Jay Groome set to get the nod for El Paso.
