Today's Probable Pitcher: Andre Jackson (1-6) is scheduled to make his team-leading 17th start of the season tonight after being optioned Wednesday by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was recalled by LAD Aug. 7 but did not appear in a game...In his last start Aug. 2 in Salt Lake, Jackson matched his career high with 10 strikeouts over 5.0 scoreless innings, recording his third career double-digit strikeout game and his first since June 10, 2019 with High-A Rancho Cucamonga against Inland Empire. Jackson gave up four hits and three walks, but held Salt Lake 0-for-6 with six strikeouts with runners in scoring position. He threw a career-high 98 pitches and became the second OKC pitcher this season with 10 strikeouts in one game, joining Ryan Pepiot (June 21 vs. Round Rock)...Over his last four starts, Jackson has allowed five runs and 12 hits over 17.0 innings (2.65 ERA). OKC recorded its largest shutout win in the team's Bricktown era (since 1998) with a 19-0 victory May 12 and Yefry Ramírez became the first OKC Dodger and first pitcher throughout the entire PCL to throw a nine-inning shutout since 2018. Six different players homered in that same game for the first time in the team's Bricktown era. In series finale May 15, OKC lost a game when scoring at least 13 runs for just the fifth time during the team's Bricktown era and for the first time since 2007, as Round Rock won, 14-13...The Dodgers have won five of the last six season series between the teams...With wins each of the last three nights, the Express have consecutive wins against the Dodgers for the first time this season and have now won four of the last five meetings.
Slip Slidin': The Dodgers' five straight losses have matched their season high, previously done July 1-5. The Dodgers have not lost six games in a row since Aug. 20-26, 2019. Following a 9-2 start out of the All-Star Break to move to a season-best 21 games above .500, the Dodgers are 1-6 since...This is just the second time this season the Dodgers have lost the first three games of a series, also doing so April 12-14 in El Paso, but it's the first home series they've started 0-3 since Sept. 16-18, 2021, also against Round Rock. The only other time the team has lost three straight home games at any point this season was May 26-27 against Reno (doubleheader on May 26)... Despite losing five consecutive games, the Dodgers are hanging on to the PCL East Division lead with a 62-46 record and maintain a 2.5-game lead ahead of second-place El Paso, which has lost three straight games. However, Round Rock has now moved just 4.0 games back of OKC after capturing three straight wins over the Dodgers.
Drew Dat: Last night Drew Avans hit his PCL-leading ninth triple of the season, recorded two walks and scored a run as he extended his on-base streak to 47 games. He owns the longest active on-base streak in the Minors and the longest on-base streak by an OKC player during the MLBAM era (since 2005). He has reached base in 61 of his last 62 games and his 47-game on-base streak is the longest in the PCL since 2018. He owns one of four on-base streaks of at least 47 games recorded this season in the Minors. Since June 1 (56 games), Avans is batting .307 (67x218) with 13 doubles, six triples, three homers, 21 RBI, 30 walks and 47 runs scored. During that span he ranks tied for first in the PCL with six triples, tied for second with 67 hits, third with 19 stolen bases, fourth with 47 runs and a .399 OBP and tied for fifth with 30 walks...His 26 stolen bases - a career high - are tied for fifth in the PCL. It's the most stolen bases by an OKC player since Micah Johnson also had 26 in 2016, and the last OKC Dodgers player with more than that was Darnell Sweeney with 32 in 2015. He is one of five players all-time during the team's Bricktown era with nine or more triples in a season and is one shy of tying Joaquin Arias' record set in 2006.
Beast Node: Ryan Noda went 1-for-3 with a walk last night and over his last seven games, Noda is 12-for-25 with two doubles, three homers, nine RBI, five walks and five runs scored. During the eight-game streak, Ríos is 11-for-33 with four doubles and owns the longest active hitting streak by an OKC player. He was initially placed on the Los Angeles Dodgers Injured List June 3 with a right hamstring injury and was transferred to the 60-day IL June 22.
The Rundown: For the second time in four games, the Dodgers allowed 12 runs. It's the 11th time this season a Dodgers opponent has scored a dozen or more runs, including the seventh time since June 29. It's also the sixth time the Dodgers have lost a game by 10 or more runs, and it was their largest home loss of the season. By comparison, the 2021 team allowed at least 12 runs only six times in 129 games and only had two losses of at least 10 runs...Dodgers opponents have scored 37 runs over the last four games combined for the most runs allowed by OKC in four consecutive games since July 3-6 when the Dodgers allowed 39 runs over a four-game span...The Dodgers are 10-8 since the All-Star Break. In the 10 wins, they've allowed a total of 26 runs, with no more than four runs in any game. In the eight losses, they've allowed 67 runs, with at least six runs in six of the eight games, at least eight runs five times and 12 runs three times...Over the last 36.0 innings pitched, opponents are 18-for-52 (.346) seven homers and 22 runs with two outs...During the team's current five-game losing streak, the bullpen has allowed 27 runs, 30 hits, and 14 walks over 20.2 innings. Five and Dime: Over the last five games, the Dodgers have scored 13 runs, with three or fewer runs in four of the five games. Overall they are batting .227 (37x163) with 56 strikeouts. They've collected seven extra-base hits and only hit two home runs - both solo homers by Ryan Noda - and have four extra-base hits in the last four games. The team is just 4-for-45 with runners in scoring position and has left 46 runners on base. The Dodgers are 0-for-their-last-18 with runners on base and 0-for-their-last-19 with RISP.
Walking Papers: OKC tallied seven more walks Thursday and leads all Triple-A teams with 525 walks this season. The team has drawn 101 walks across the 18 games following the All-Star Break for an average of 5.61 per game, including six games with seven or more walks. The Dodgers are on pace for 729 walks this season, which would shatter the current team single-season record of 573.
Big Inning Breakdown: The eight runs scored by the Express in the seventh inning last night tied the season-high mark for an OKC opponent and were the most runs scored by an opponent in an inning since July 4 against Las Vegas in OKC when the Aviators scored eight runs in the fourth inning. The Express had seven hits during the rally, marking the first time since April 12 at El Paso an opponent had that many hits in one inning. It was the third time in the last four games the Dodgers allowed six or more runs in an inning and the ninth time this season an opponent has scored six or more runs in an inning...In the seventh inning alone during the current series, the Express has scored 15 runs...The Dodgers have allowed 37 innings this year of four or more runs after allowing 38 such innings over the entire 2021 season.
Around the Horn: Miguel Vargas has hit safely in four straight games as well as in 10 of his last 11 games with OKC, collecting 13 hits, four doubles, two homers, eight RBI and 10 runs scored during the span. He ranks among the PCL's top five players in runs (T-1st, 84), hits (2nd, 113), doubles (3rd, 25), RBI (4th, 72), walks (4th, 55), total bases (5th, 191)...Dodgers pitchers recorded nine more strikeouts last night and the team's 101 K's so far in August lead the PCL.
