WELCOME HOME: The Astros on Wednesday announced that they claimed outfielder Dillon Thomas from the Los Angeles Angels. Thomas, who was born in Houston and attended Westbury Christian School in Houston, has spent the bulk of the season with Triple A Salt Lake. He also appeared in one game for the Angels. Thomas has hit .296 (52x176) with eight home runs and 39 RBI in 48 games with Salt Lake this season. Thomas made his MLB debut last season with Seattle. He was selected by Colorado in the fourth round of the 2011 MLB Draft from Westbury Christian School.

MASHIJEVIC: JJ Matijevic was recalled by the Astros on Tuesday as Jeremy Peña was placed on the 10-Day IL. Matijevic had hit .444 (8-for-18) with three doubles, a triple, three home runs and five RBI over his last four games with the Space Cowboys. This is Matijevic's second stint with the Astros this season, making his Major League debut on April 22. Matijevic is second on the Space Cowboy and tied for fifth in the Pacific Coast League with 12 home runs. He also leads the PCL with a .640 slugging percentage and third with a 1.013 OPS.
