Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox defeated the Omaha Royals 5-1 on Thursday night. The Sox were held scoreless until the 7th inning when Mark Bellhorn blasted a solo home run to tie the game at 1. In the top of the 9th Brent Butler walked with the bases loaded to give the Sox a 2-1 advantage. The very next hitter David Newhan cleared the bases with a double to give the Sox some very much-needed insurance runs. Sox starter Jesus Sanchez went 5 strong innings allowing 1 run while striking out 3. Randy Flores came on in relief to nail down his team leading 10th victory of the year. With their win on Thursday the Sox thrust themselves back into a first place tie with Albuquerque with 11 games to go. Friday night will feature game 4 in Omaha with Nelson Cruz (0-0, 6.00) making his 2nd rehab start for the Sox against Chris George (2-3, 7.82) of Omaha.
