DeVore's Double Lifts Tucson in Wild Game at Fresno

Doug DeVore's three-run double in the eighth inning gave Tucson a 7-5 lead as the Sidewinders would go on to win by the same score over Fresno Thursday night at Grizzlies Stadium.

The three run inning by the Sidewinders came after Fresno scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to claim a 5-4 advantage. The last three runs came were unearned when Danny Ramirez dropped a fly ball in left field with two outs and the bases loaded. All three runs scored.

Chad Tracy and Mike Bell would walk with one out in the eighth before Lyle Overbay singled to load the bases. Manny Aybar was summoned from the bullpen and struck out Tim Olson before DeVore's heroics.

Tucson scored first in the fourth inning when Danny Ramirez reached on an error and came home to score on a sacrifice fly by Mike Bell. The run was Tucson's first in 21 innings in the series.

The Sidewinders plated three more runs in the fifth. Luis Terrero drilled a two-run triple chasing home DeVore and Andrew Good. Chad Tracy later added a run scoring single which scored Terrero and gave the Sidewinders a 4-0 lead..

Andrew Good threw five scoreless innings in his start. Brady Raggio replaced Good in the sixth and surrendered a run to the Grizzlies. Raggio allowed the run in the seventh before Fresno would load the bases and score three more unearned runs.

Ricky Bottalico earned the win in relief while Brian Bruney threw a scoreless ninth inning to collect his tenth save of the year.

Tucson improved to 67-66. The Sidewinders and Grizzlies will meet Friday night in a 7:05 p.m. start in the fourth of a five-game series. Chris Capuano (8-4 3.05) will start for Tucson against Boof Bonser (0-1 1.59).
