Reno, NV- The Reno Silver Sox, proud members of the Golden League, announced today that they have acquired C/DH Jason Dewey from the Yuma Scorpions for a player to be named later. The Silver Sox also released DH Nate Fisk and C Wayne Astrauskas.

A native of Syracuse, NY, Dewey was batting .275 with 4 home runs and 12 RBI for the Scorpions, appearing primarily as their DH. He was taken in the 26th round of the 1996 draft by the Angles out of Indian River (FL) Community College and has spent ten seasons in the minor leagues.

Dewey's best year came in 1998 with Lake Elsinore of the California League, where he batted .294 with 15 home runs and 66 RBI. Last season with Yuma, Dewey drove in 54 runs with 10 bombs and hit .268.

Fisk was batting .310 with 5 RBI in 29 at-bats and Astrauskas was batting .290 with 7 RBI in 31 at-bats.

Next, the Silver Sox will be hosting the San Diego Surf Dawgs starting Tuesday, July 4, and ending on Thursday, July 6. And what better way to celebrate the birthday of America than taking in a game of America's past time. Come watch the Silver Sox at a special game time of 4:05 p.m., as the Silver Sox will also be having a "Two for Tuesday" ticket special.
