Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

After Saturday's game was pushed back due to rain, the Gary SouthShore RailCats swept both ends of the seven-inning doubleheader against the Kansas City T-Bones, 3-2.

Game one kicked off at 2:10 p.m. as the 'Cats jumped on T-Bones' hurler Joe Van Meter with a Drew Martinez RBI single in the first, and made it 3-0 with Ryan Brockett's single to centerfield in the fifth inning.

SouthShore starter Charle Rosario cruised through the first five innings before surrendering a solo home run to second baseman Ryan Cavan in the sixth.

Rosario earned his second win of the year and Loomis notched his third save by closing out the ninth inning after a T-Bones' (1-8) scare.

In the second game, Kansas City jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning, but the RailCats (7-4) answered to tie and then take the lead on RBI triples down the right field line by Zac Mitchell and Roger Bernal.

The 'Bones tied the game in the sixth, but Adam Taylor blooped a doubled down the left field line to untie the game and give the 'Cats the sweep.

Snodgrass earned his second save of the season in game two. Andy Roberts got a no decision for his one-run, one-hit effort through five innings.

Roger Bernal tallied a hit in both ends of the doubleheader and now has a nine-game hit streak.

With the two wins Sunday, Gary has sole possession of first place in the Central Division.

After their first off day of the young season on Monday, the 'Cats head to Canada, New York and New Jersey for a nine-game road trip against the Can-Am League.
