Nashville Sounds News Release

NASHVILLE — The Nashville Sounds will remember individuals who dedicated their lives while serving their country during the team's Memorial Day festivities on Monday afternoon at Greer Stadium.

Following the Sounds' 3 p.m. game against the Omaha Royals, all fans in attendance will be invited onto the field to "build" a human flag. Individuals will be given a card colored red, white, or blue and organized into position to create the image of an American flag.

While the human flag is being formed, a poem titled "Old Glory" will be read by WLAC radio personality Phil Valentine. After the human flag is in place, Tennessee State Guard and Civil Air Patrol personnel will file into formation on the field and a second poem, titled "Just Souls," will be read by a Fort Campbell chaplain.

Following the second poem, a list of names of all U.S. soldiers who lost their lives in Operation Iraqi Freedom will be scrolled on the scoreboard while "Amazing Grace" is played by a bagpipe band. A moment of remembrance will then be observed while "Taps" is played.

Military personnel on hand will conduct an on-field ceremonial folding of an American flag, which will be presented to the Nashville Sounds for display at Greer Stadium.

The afternoon's activities will conclude with a Fort Campbell chaplain conducting prayers for troops and family members.

Tickets for the 3 p.m. Monday game between the Sounds and Royals cost between $6-10 and can be purchased by calling 615-242-4371, visiting the Greer Stadium box office, or online at www.nashvillesounds.com.
