Sounds Take 4-2 Finale from Express

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds derailed the Round Rock Express, 4-2, on Tuesday night at historic Greer Stadium in the finale of a four-game set.
Luis Cruz recorded his team-leading ninth three-hit game of the season in the win, while Mat Gamel and Adam Stern each added two hits.
Winners of the last three games and six of the last seven contests against Round Rock, Nashville's (59-51) victory tonight knotted the season series, 8-8.
The Sounds scored first for 68th time this season, as second baseman Eric Farris smacked a double down the first base line and scored as Mat Gamel hit a bloop single to centerfield. The RBI was Gamel's 22nd RBI in the last 16 games.
Nashville plated another run in the next inning as Luis Cruz and Adam Stern hit consecutive single to open the frame. Cruz advanced to third on a wild pitch from Express starter Yorman Bazardo and came home for a 2-0 lead on an infield groundout from Ben Johnson.
The Express put a run on the board in the top of third inning as Sounds starter Josh Butler gave up a walk to the pitcher to begin the frame, followed by single by Jack Shuck. Later in the inning with two outs, Butler threw a wild pitch that allowed Bazardo to score from third for a 2-1 lead.
Round Rock knotted the game at 2-2 in the top of the fifth. Shuck walked and then came home on two straight singles from Brian Bogusevic and Drew Locke.
Nashville went back ahead at 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Gamel led off the inning with a 13-pitch at-bat that culminated with a walk after fouling off seven two-strike pitches. Cruz's third hit of the game advanced Gamel to second base, with both runners advancing to scoring position on a wild pitch from Bazardo. With two outs in the inning, Stern knocked home both runners with a weak single to centerfield.
In his second start of the season, Bazardo gave up four runs on eight hits with five strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings to take the loss.
In his second quality start in his third Triple-A outing, Butler earned the win, giving up two runs on five hits with five strikeouts in six innings thrown.
Nashville held the opposition to two runs or less for 16th time this season, while the bullpen added three scoreless innings behind Butler.
Donovan Hand tossed one scoreless frame in relief for his sixth consecutive outing without allowing a run. Mitch Stetter's shutout frame tied him with Rich Sauveur for 160 career appearances in Sounds history.
Round Rock rallied to load the bases with two outs in the ninth frame, but closer Chris Smith struck out Wladimir Sutil to end the game and pick up his 21st save of the season to tie him with Las Vegas' Jeremy Accardo for the PCL lead.
The Sounds will travel west to begin an eight-game road trip, beginning at 9:05 pm CT against the Reno Aces at Aces Ballpark in Reno for the opener of a four-game series. Left-hander Chuck Lofgren (7-5, 5.02) will make the start for Nashville against veteran Reno right-hander Kris Benson (1-2, 9.78).
