Allen Homers, Aces Fall 9-3 to Rainiers
August 3, 2010 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release
TACOMA, Wash.-Brandon Allen hit his 19th home run of the season, but an early Tacoma lead was too much for Reno to overcome Tuesday afternoon, as the Rainiers topped the Aces, 9-3, in the series finale at Cheney Stadium.
Tacoma jumped on Aces starter Josh Collmenter early, posting two runs in the first and four more in the second to take a 6-0 lead it would not relinquish. Allen put the Aces on the board with a solo home run in the fourth, but the Aces offensive failed to catch-up.
Collmenter (3-3) took the loss for Reno, surrendering eight runs on 11 hits over 5.2 innings of work. Leyson Septimo spelled Collmenter in the sixth and finished out the game, allowing a run on two hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
Blake Beavan (1-0) earned the win for Tacoma, scattering two runs on seven hits over six frames. Beavan walked one and punched-out two.
Ryan Roberts and Mark Hallberg collected two hits apiece for the Aces, while Alex Herrnberger hit a pinch-hit double in his first-career Triple-A plate appearance.
Reno now returns home to kick-off an eight game homestand. First up, the Aces will take-on the Nashville Sounds on Wednesday at Aces Ballpark. RHP Kris Benson (1-2, 9.78 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, making a Major League rehabilitation start. LHP Chuck Lofgren (7-5, 5.02 ERA) counters for the Sounds. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT.
Tickets for all Aces games start at just $7, and are available by calling the Reno Aces box office at (775) 334-7000 or by visiting RenoAces.com. The brand-new Freight House District, located just outside Aces Ballpark, is open seven days a week, on both game days and non-game days.
