New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
The New Orleans Zephyrs dropped their third consecutive game on Sunday, falling to the Nashville Sounds 3-2.
Sounds starter Marco Estrada pitched five innings, allowing two runs on four hits while walking one and striking out four to pick up his first win of the season.
Ryan Tucker, activated from the disabled list earlier in the day, took the loss after allowing three runs on six hits and two walks over 5 1/3 innings for New Orleans.
Tucker exited the game with a 2-1 lead in and one out in the sixth inning. With two runners aboard, Nashville's Johnny Raburn smacked a two-run triple into the right field corner against reliever Brian Lawrence to provide the eventual winning margin.
It marked the third time in as many starts this season that Tucker left a game with a lead, but did not receive a victory.
Zephyrs second baseman Danny Richar went 3-for-4, and drove in the lone Zephyrs runs with a two-run homer in the second inning. New Orleans was out-hit 10-5 on the afternoon.
Both bullpens pitched well as the Z's combined to throw 3 2/3 innings, allowing just four hits and one walk. Nashville's bullpen shut down the Zephyrs through four innings, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out six.
New Orleans and Nashville continue play on Monday in game three of the four-game tilt. LH Hunter Jones (0-1, 4.20) is scheduled to throw for the Z's and is matched up against LH Chris Waters (2-0, 3.78) for the Sounds.
