Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev. - The Aces trailed 10-5 heading into the bottom of the 10th inning, but a Jeff Bailey walk-off home run capped a six-run rally, giving the Aces an11-10 victory over Colorado Springs in front of a sellout crowd of 9,019 fans Sunday afternoon at Aces Ballpark.
With the game tied at five headed to extra innings, Colorado Springs scored five runs in the tenth against two Reno relievers. The Aces rallied in the tenth, starting with a two-out Carlos Corporan single that extended the inning and cut the lead to 10-6. After a Chris Rahl single, leadoff hitter Doug Deeds belted a three-run homer into the Bing Bullpen Deck in right-center field to cut the lead to one. After a pinch-hit walk, Jeff Bailey provided the heroics with a towering walk-off home run into the train trench beyond the left field wall to give the Aces the win in front of the second sellout of the season and fifth-largest crowd in Aces Ballpark history.
Reno got another strong outing from a starting pitcher, as Cesar Valdez tossed 7.0 innings, allowing just three earned runs and striking out four. Jordan Norberto (1-0) recorded the final out of the tenth and earned the win in relief.
Esmil Rogers started and allowed just one earned run in five innings, but did not factor in the decision. Juan Rincon (0-1) suffered the loss for the Sky Sox after giving up the game-winning home run.
Deeds' three-run blast in the tenth capped a 4-for-6, five-RBI night, while Bailey and Corporan chipped in two hits apiece for the Aces. Pedro Ciriaco contributed a two-run triple in the sixth for Reno.
