SEATTLE, WASH. - Sounders FC today announced the signing of six Sounders FC 2 players to short-term agreements ahead of Wednesday's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round match against Sacramento Republic FC at Papa Murphy's Park (8:00 p.m. PT / SoundersFC.com). S2 players Rodrigue Ele, Nick Hinds, Shandon Hopeau, David Olsen, Ray Saari and Marlon Vargas are all eligible for selection by Sounders FC Head Coach Brian Schmetzer for Wednesday evening's match.
MLS clubs may sign players from their USL affiliate to short-term agreements (up to four-day contracts) for CONCACAF Champions League, AMWAY Canadian Championship, Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and exhibition matches. An MLS club may sign a player to a maximum of four short-term agreements each season (maximum of 16 days). Sounders FC utilized this mechanism to add S2 players for each of last season's U.S. Open Cup fixtures.
Following Wednesday's match, Sounders FC returns home to face D.C. United in MLS action, with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. PT on the Xbox Pitch at CenturyLink Field. Regional television coverage is available on JOEtv and YouTube TV, in addition to a Spanish-language broadcast on Univision-Seattle. Radio affiliates 950 KJR AM and El Rey 1360 AM are also carrying Saturday's match.
