RENTON, WASH. - Following a 0-0 draw with FC Dallas last weekend, Seattle Sounders FC returns home to host Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, April 20 on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field (7:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 93.3 KJR FM, El Rey 1360 AM).

Seattle currently sits in 12th place in the Western Conference with six points, while Vancouver is tied for second place with 13 points. Whitecaps FC is most recently coming off a 3-1 home loss to the LA Galaxy last weekend.

Saturday's match marks the first of Seattle's 2024 Cascadia Cup fixtures. The Cascadia Cup is a regional competition between Seattle, Vancouver and the Portland Timbers, beginning in 2004 when all three clubs competed in the USL First Division.

Seattle and Vancouver have faced off 151 times dating back to 1974 when both teams played in the North American Soccer League. Seattle leads the all-time series 73-52-26. This season marks both clubs' 50th anniversaries.

Following Saturday's matchup, Seattle hits the road for a two-match road swing, playing D.C. United on Saturday, April 27 at Audi Field (4:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM) before facing the Philadelphia Union on Tuesday, April 30 (4:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).

Saturday's match celebrates Pod Night, a special-orca themed match that continues Sounders FC's work to Protect Our Planet. Pod Night is geared toward families, fandom and a light celebration of Earth Month, with an emphasis on stewardship of the Salish Sea and its beloved orca population.

In addition to the wide variety of matchday activities that fans can expect from a home match, on Pod Night Sounders FC is working with local experts from Seattle Aquarium to help educate fans about local orcas and how we can all take action to help their populations thrive.

Dr. Michael Morris, Chief Medical Officer and Team Orthopedic Surgeon, announced his retirement earlier this week. Dr. Morris has been with the team since its USL days, serving as the team physician for three years prior to its move to MLS. The father of Sounders FC forward Jordan Morris, he is a graduate of the University of Washington Orthopedic residency program and the Kerlan Jobe Sports Medicine Program. Dr. Morris also served as an orthopedic surgeon and Section Head of the Virginia Mason Sports Medicine Department.

In honor of Seattle's 50th anniversary, the team is honoring a club alumni at every home match, with Saturday's match featuring goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann. The Seattle native joined the Rave Green in 2012, playing with the club until 2014, helping the squad lift an Open Cup as well as a Supporters' Shield. He started his professional career for the A-League Sounders in 1994, then began his MLS career with the Colorado Rapids from 1997-1999 before a move to Europe that saw him play with Reading FC in both the Championship and Premier League as well as Wolverhampton and Everton of England's topflight. Hahnemann continues to live in the Pacific Northwest and is a regular contributor to Sounders FC radio broadcasts.
