Nashville SC Travels to Ft. Lauderdale, Returns to MLS Action against Inter Miami

April 19, 2024 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Nashville SC News Release

After regrouping and recouping during Nashville SC's bye week, the Boys in Gold are headed to Florida to take on familiar foe Inter Miami in an Eastern Conference matchup. The two sides met earlier this season in Concacaf Champions Cup action.

Key Storylines

Players on the path to return to the squad - After missing key players in different parts of the field over the large stretches of the season, various players are nearing a return to first team action. Randall Leal and Tyler Boyd could be "part of the equation" against Miami, according to head coach Gary Smith.

Using time off to regroup - With no match played since April 6, the team has enjoyed the opportunity to regroup ahead of this weekend's clash against Inter Miami.

"I do think the last couple of weeks have served us well to get out on the training field and really double down on some of the work needed in the group," Smith said. "Players have looked very focused, plenty of energy."

Last home match until late April - The Boys in Gold make the trip to Inter Miami on April 20 before returning to GEODIS park on April 27 to face off against San Jose Earthquakes.

Opposition Player To Watch

Though it's still early days in league play and no single player is leading the Golden Boot race, striker Luis Suarez is joint top of the scoring charts alongside Christian Arango (RSL), Christian Benteke (DC), Dejan Joveljic (LA), and Lewis Morgan (RBNY) at six goals.

The Uruguayan striker also has three assists to his name this season, making that nine goal involvements in eight matches.
