SEATTLE, WASH. - Sounders FC (12-9-10, 46 points) played to a scoreless draw on the road with Nashville SC (12-9-9, 45 points) on Saturday evening at GEODIS Park. The match concludes a three-game road stretch for Seattle, who earned five of nine points and now sits second in the Western Conference, one point clear of third-place LAFC. Brian Schmetzer's side now returns home for a two-match homestand, hosting the LA Galaxy on Wednesday, October 4 (7:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 93.3 KJR FM, El Rey 1360 AM) before facing Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, October 7 (7:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, Sirius XM FC, El Rey 1360 AM).

MATCH NOTES

Sounders FC sits in second place in the Western Conference with 46 points (12-9-10), one point clear of third-place LAFC and 10 points behind first-place St. Louis CITY SC. Three games remain in the 2023 MLS regular season for Seattle.

The match concludes a three-match road stretch for Seattle, who previously drew 1-1 with FC Dallas on September 16 and defeated the Colorado Rapids 2-1 on September 20. The Rave Green collected five of nine available points during the stretch, and now play two of their final three remaining games at Lumen Field.

Tonight's matchup featured the two stingiest defenses in MLS, with Nashville allowing the fewest goals this season (28) and Seattle ranking second (31).

With the shutout this evening, Stefan Frei now has 12 on the season, good for first in MLS and one behind the single-season club record of 13 that he set in 2017. His 103 career clean sheets in MLS regular-season play rank third all-time in league history.

Jordan Morris remained in Seattle following the birth of his child, while Albert Rusnák did not travel with the team due to illness.

Reed Baker-Whiting received the nod at left back, with Nouhou suspended due to yellow card accumulation.

Raúl Ruidíaz was a late scratch from the starting XI this evening (back pain) and was replaced by Héber, who received his first start since July 12.

Seattle is now 0-2-1 all-time against Nashville, who entered the league in 2020. Both previous matchups occurred last season while Nashville competed in the Western Conference.

Sounders FC is now unbeaten in its last six matches (2-0-4) dating back to August 27.
