
Felipe Mora, Cristhian Paredes Called up for International Duty in October

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers announced today that forward Felipe Mora and midfielder Cristhian Paredes have been called up by their respective countries for international matches for the FIFA international period in October. Following the Timbers' away match against C.F. Montreal on Oct. 7, Mora will join the Chilean Men's National Team while Paredes will represent the Paraguayan Men's National Team. Both national teams are set to compete in two 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches.
Mora and Chile will square off against Peru (Oct. 12) and Venezuela (Oct. 17). The 30-year-old forward, who will join the senior team in Santiago, Chile, has made nine appearances with Chile's senior national team, scoring one goal. The last time he was called up into the Chilean national team in 2019, Mora logged a 45-minute appearance in a World Cup Qualifying match against Peru on Oct. 8. He scored his first international goal in a 3-2 victory over Guinea during a friendly match on Oct. 15, 2019, logging 90 minutes. Mora made his debut with the Chile's U-20 national team on June 26, 2013, when he was 19 years old. This season for Portland, Mora has tallied 12 appearances (five starts), recording four goals and one assist.
Paredes will join Paraguay in Asunción, Paraguay, before facing Argentina (Oct. 12) and Bolivia (Oct. 17). Paredes has made six appearances with Paraguay's senior national team, logging 245 minutes. The 25-year-old made his senior debut on June 2, 2017, against France, logging 27 minutes. Paredes started in two appearances with the U-23 team against Colombia in a friendly match on Dec. 21, 2019, and against Argentina on Jan. 7, 2020. With the Timbers this season, the midfielder has registered two goals and three assists in 26 appearances (20 starts).
