Bridgeport Islanders News Release

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Sound Tigers forward Micheal Haley recorded his first career AHL hat trick, Ty Wishart added two goals and Kael Mouillierat tied a Sound Tigers record with four assists as Bridgeport set a team record for goals in one game with an 8-1 victory over the Springfield Falcons. With the win, the Sound Tigers improve to 24-18-3-2 overall. Springfield falls to 22-23-2-2.

The Sound Tigers jumped on the scoreboard just 55 seconds into the game when Matt Donovan scored on a wraparound past Manny Legace to give the Sound Tigers a 1-0 lead. Bridgeport extended the lead to two late in the period when Haley scored the first of his three goals on a rip from the right circle over Legace's shoulder. The Sound Tigers increased the lead to three with 1:32 left in the opening period. Donovan's pass from behind his own net caromed off the glass and onto the tape of a streaking Trevor Frischmon who snuck in behind the Springfield defense. Frischmon waited and beat Legace over his blocker for his sixth goal of the season, and the Sound Tigers led 3-0 after 20 minutes.

Haley picked up his second tally of the night 3:35 into the second period to make the lead 4-0 when he knocked home a rebound off of Steve Oleksy's shot. Springfield's only tally of the night came at 8:03 of the second period when Alex Giroux beat netminder Anders Nilsson with a wraparound to make the score 4-1. Justin DiBenedetto scored the first of three power play goals on the night on a rebound at 14:09 of the middle frame to give the Sound Tigers a 5-1 lead. Ty Wishart extended the lead to five with the first of his two power play goals on the night, sending a low drive through Legace. The Sound Tigers led 6-1 after two periods and that was the end of Legace's night, as the veteran goalie allowed six goals on 28 shots.

Paul Dainton relieved Legace in net, but the Sound Tigers continued to add to their lead in the third. Wishart netted his second power play goal of the night midway through the final period, both coming on five-on-threes . Haley closed out the scoring 52 seconds after Wishart's goal, converting in front on a feed from Kael Mouillierat to complete the hat trick.

Six Sound Tigers recorded multi-point games, and 13 out of 18 skaters recorded at least one point. Nilsson made 29 saves to earn his 11th win of the season.

The Sound Tigers will look to carry the momentum into tomorrow's rivalry game at Webster Bank Arena against the Connecticut Whale at 3:00 p.m.
