San Antonio Rampage News Release
ROCHESTER, NY - San Antonio Rampage right wing Michal Repik potted two goals to lead the Rampage past the Rochester Americans 4-1 at Blue Cross Arena on Saturday night.
Center James Wright put San Antonio ahead 1-0 with a power-play goal at the 14:19 mark of the first period. In a goalmouth scramble, Wright found a loose puck in the crease and fired it into the net for his eighth marker of the season. Centers Mark Cullen and Jon Matsumoto notched the assists on the play.
Rochester knotted the game at 1-1 when defenseman T.J. Brennan converted on a one-timer from center Paul Szczechura 8:02 into the middle frame. Brennan ripped a shot past San Antonio backstop Dov Grumet-Morris to notch his eighth goal of the 2011-12 campaign. Defenseman Drew Schiestel recorded the secondary assist on the Brennan score.
San Antonio regained the lead at 2-1 just over four minutes later. Repik took a feed from left wing Evan Barlow and fired a wrister to the left of Americans goalie David Leggio for his sixth goal of the year. Defenseman Keith Seabrook registered his seventh assist of the season with the secondary helper on the play.
The Rampage extended their advantage to 3-1 with Bill Thomas' 16th marker of the season 15:15 into the second. The San Antonio right wing received a cross-crease pass from defenseman Mike Vernace and lifted the puck over Leggio to score his fourth goal in his last three games. Wright picked up his second point of the night with the alternate assist on the Thomas goal.
Before the middle stanza expired, Repik potted his second goal of the night to make the count 4-1 in favor of the Rampage. With San Antonio on a power play, he dug the puck out of the crease and roofed it into the upper part of the net for his seventh goal of 2011-12 at 18:56. The assists on the Repik score went to forwards Greg Rallo and Eric Selleck.
Grumet-Morris made 25 saves on 26 Americans shots for his 16th win of the season. Leggio turned aside 22 of 26 Rampage attempts in the Rochester loss.
The Rampage (27-20-2-0) travel to Grand Rapids tomorrow to finish a three-in-three weekend with a 4:00 p.m. (CST) contest against the Griffins at Van Andel Arena.
