Heat Vs Barons Game Preview

February 11, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Abbotsford Heat News Release

Abbotsford, BC - The Abbotsford Heat have their final crack at the Oklahoma City Barons tonight as the West Division rivals close out their eight-game season series. The Barons beat the Heat 4-0 on Thursday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, and in the process moved into sole possession of top spot in the AHL.

The Heat have earned five points through seven games with the Barons this season, recording two wins in Oklahoma City, and suffering an overtime loss in Abbotsford to earn points in three contests. Oklahoma City has spoiled the Heat's annual Saddledome game in Calgary two-years in a row now, and have yet to lose a game the Heat have hosted in the two-year history of the Oilers most recent affiliate, winning twice in overtime and three times in regulation.

Henrik Karlsson made his AHL debut in Thursday's loss to the Barons and stopped 21 of 25 shots. The 6'6" 28-year-old Swedish puck-stopper is currently on a two-week conditioning stint after recovering from a knee injury suffered on December 4th. Karlsson is in his second season in North America after being signed by the Flames out of the Swedish Elite League in the Summer of 2010.

Tonight's game can be heard on Country 107.1 FM in the Fraser Valley and the Lower Mainland. The 30-minute pre-game show begins at 6:30, with puck-drop at 7:00 PM. The game can be heard on the web on theAHL.com, Country 107.1's website, and is available on the Rogers Radio App on your wireless device.
