Sound Tigers Drop Gloves against Cancer February 9 and 10

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers, proud AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, are dropping the gloves against a deadly disease on Saturday, Feb. 9 and Sunday, Feb. 10 with Stick It to Cancer Weekend at Webster Bank Arena.
The team's two home games that weekend will be split up to focus on adult cancer awareness Feb. 9 against Providence at 7 p.m., and pediatric cancer awareness on Feb. 10 against Utica at 3 p.m. In addition, when the Sound Tigers take the ice that Sunday, the club will trade in their blue and orange jerseys for special-edition gold uniforms - the color associated with the fight against childhood cancers. The jerseys will be unveiled via the team's social media channels on Monday, Feb. 4.
Each player's specialty jersey will be up for bid during a silent auction on the concourse during the game, benefitting three local organizations: Infinite Love for Kids Fighting Cancer, LIVFREE and Ryan's Rebels.
Stick It to Cancer Weekend will also feature two ticket packages that are on sale now, both benefiting local charity partners.
Wine Tasting Package (Available Saturday only - $25)

- Access to the pre-game wine tasting event from 4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m. (Saturday, Feb. 9)
- A special-edition Sound Tigers tasting glass
If you would like to add a Stick It to Cancer t-shirt to your wine tasting package for an additional $15, please call 203-345-2300 ext. 7. Season ticket holders may also purchase the the Wine Tasting Package for $15. A portion of the proceeds from this package will go directly to the Danni Kemp Cancer Support Fund.

Season ticket holders may also purchase the t-shirt for $10. A portion of the proceeds from this package will go directly to the Danni Kemp Cancer Support Fund on Saturday, and to Infinite Love for Kids Fighting Cancer, LIVFree, and Ryan's Rebels on Sunday.
Packages are limited and only available or by calling the Sound Tigers sales department before Friday, Feb. 8 at 203-345-2300 ext. 7.
In addition, Sound Tigers players and their families are decorating and filling individual buckets with some of their favorite things, which will be up for auction during the game on Saturday, Feb. 9. Autographed New York Islanders memorabilia will also be raffled off all weekend.
About Infinite Love for Kids Fighting Cancer
Research for childhood cancer is incredibly underfunded as it only receives 4-percent of the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) annual research budget. Infinite Love for Kids Fighting Cancer wants to continue fulfilling these grants therefore making it possible for researchers and doctors to discover less toxic treatments for our children.
About Ryan's Rebels
Ryan's Rebels was started in 2014 by an eighth grade religious education class at St. Stephen Church in Trumbull to honor Ryan Joyce, a fun-loving three and a half year old who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a pediatric cancer during the summer of 2014. Sadly, after a courageous 18-month battle he passed away on December 3, 2015, one month shy of his fourth birthday. Ryan's Rebels is dedicated to helping other families going through a similar battle.
About LIVFREE
Sixteen-month-old Lauren Vieira was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2015 and has faced numerous nights in the hospital, blood transfusions, chemotherapy, lumbar punctures, countless medications, and has shown nothing but strength and grace through every turn down her long road to recovery. Her parents, Daniel and Katrina, quickly realized how difficult it was to provide a sense of normalcy for their family between treatments, doctors' visits and complications. It is with this experience that LIVFREE was created.
About the Danni Kemp Cancer Support Fund
Danielle Kemp is a 19-year-old Milford native, and Division 1 student-athlete at Stony Brook in Long Island. As an avid softball player since childhood, Danni was spending this summer the same way she has been for the past 10 years, playing summer softball. In early July, she was hit by a pitch in the helmet and doctors initially thought it was a concussion, but after an MRI was ordered, they realized it was an inoperable brain tumor. Due to the location, surgery is not an option and Danni will begin radiation therapy on Aug. 29.
