Sound Tigers Agree to Terms with Gallant on AHL Contract

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. (May 5, 2011) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Brett Gallant to a one-year, AHL contract.

Gallant, 22, stays with the Sound Tigers after finishing the 2010-11 season with the club on a professional tryout contract (PTO). The Summerside, P.E.I. native appeared in 17 games with the Sound Tigers, recording his first AHL goal on Mar. 13 at Providence in addition to 73 penalty minutes.

Prior to joining the Sound Tigers, Gallant split the first portion of the season between the Elmira Jackals and the Reading Royals of the ECHL. He compiled three points (one goal, two assists) and 132 penalty minutes.

The 6'0", 185-pound forward played his junior hockey with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Summerside Capitals of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League where he totaled 88 points (32 goals, 55 assists) and 822 penalty minutes in 190 games.
