Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Houston, TX--Carson McMillan scored the game-winning goal at 3:35 of overtime to lead the Houston Aeros over the Milwaukee Admirals Thursday at the Toyota Center, 3-2.
The win for the Aeros evens the West Division Finals series at two games apiece and ensures that game there will be a game 6 on Sunday afternoon at 5 pm at the Bradley Center. Houston outshot Milwaukee 33-13 in the game.
Defenseman Maxim Noreau held the puck in the right corner of the Admirals zone. He fell but jammed the puck to Jarod Palmer behind the Milwaukee net. Palmer's wraparound attempt slid to the top of the crease for McMillan to put past Admirals goalie Jeremy Smith.
Smith played well for the Admirals, stopping 30 of 33 Aeros shots.
The Aeros claimed an early 1-0 lead when Colton Gillies scored his fifth goal of the postseason at 1:58 of the first period. Former Admirals forward Jed Ortmeyer slapped a shot from the right corner on goal and Gillies planted the rebound.
Houston's Patrick O'Sullivan gave the Aeros a 2-0 lead with a power play goal at 9:53 of the first period. Chad Rau fired a slapshot wide of the left post of the Milwaukee goal. The bounce off the endboards came to O'Sullivan on the right post for the putback, his third goal of the postseason.
The Admirals got on the board when Kelsey Wilson forced a turnover behind the Houston goal. Wilson passed from behind the net to Andreas Thuresson in the slot. Thuresson's wristshot beat goalie Matt Hackett over the right shoulder for his third goal of the playoffs.
Admirals defenseman Aaron Johnson scored a power play goal at 13:12 of the second period to knot the game at two. Mark Santorelli fed a pass from the left faceoff dot in Houston's zone to Johnson at the point. His slapper deflected off defender Warren Peters
Games five in the series is Friday night at 7:35 pm at the Toyota Center. The Admirals will host another viewing party for game five at Major Goolsby's. The teams will be back at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee for game six Sunday at 5pm. Don't forget to follow the Admirals on Twitter (@mkeadmirals) and on Facebook!
