Somerset Patriots Sign Outfielder Gevon Jackson Jr.

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced the signing of outfielder Gevon Jackson Jr.

Jackson enters his first season with the Somerset Patriots and first in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He began 2016 with the Sullivan Explorers of the Empire League of Professional Baseball. Jackson finished seventh in the league in batting (.327) with three home runs, 33 RBI and eight stolen bases over 40 games.

The Houston, Texas native was named both an Empire League regular season All-Star and the Championship Series MVP with a home run in Game One against Watertown Bucks and two hits in Game Two.

Jackson spent the previous season with the Newburgh Newts of the North County Baseball League and played against 2015 Somerset Patriots outfielder Ricky Claudio. The Stephen F. Austin alumnus hit .284 over 30 games with 18 RBI and 11 stolen bases that season.

He has been activated for Wednesday night's game in Long Island.
